eAbacus is an electronic abacus and mental-arithmetic practice education tool provided by Weigan Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "we" or "us"). This Privacy Policy applies to eAbacus on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.
We attach great importance to the protection of your personal information and privacy. We will provide appropriate security measures for your personal information in accordance with legal requirements and industry-standard security practices.
This Privacy Policy works together with our User Agreement for eAbacus.
Abacus board state, practice and exam records, teaching progress, and settings in eAbacus are handled primarily on your device. We do not upload that data to servers operated by us. Optional local-network "Mac podium" mirroring transmits the current display between your devices on the same local network after you grant local-network access and a connection with a Mac is established. The Service currently does not integrate third-party advertising SDKs and does not offer in-app purchases or subscriptions.
We will only use your personal information where we have a lawful basis to do so. Under applicable law, we may process your information based on lawful grounds such as your consent, where necessary to perform or enter into a contract with you, or where necessary to comply with legal obligations.
1.1 Core app features. To provide bead dialing, reading display, rod and place-value settings, mnemonic and lesson teaching, timed practice/exams, history save and review, and share-image generation, we process board state, practice and exam results, teaching progress, and UI preferences locally on your device. This data is used to restore learning progress and display records. We do not use it to identify you personally, and we do not upload it to servers operated by us.
1.2 Local preferences. We store certain settings on your device (such as rod mode, place labels, reading display, sound, haptics, and save-before-clear) to operate the app. This information remains on your device by default.
1.3 Local-network Mac podium mirroring (optional). When you dial beads on an iPhone or iPad and use a Mac on the same local network as a podium display: the iPhone/iPad may advertise a Bonjour service so it can be discovered, and the Mac may browse for and connect to that iPhone/iPad. After a connection is established, the app transmits the current board snapshot (such as bead state, reading, exam prompt summary, and teaching verse summary) between those devices. To help identify devices, Bonjour advertising on the iPhone/iPad may use the system device name (for example, "Alex's iPhone"), which may be visible to a Mac on the same local network that is using the Service. Transmission occurs after you grant local-network access and a connection is established (the connection may complete automatically after permission is granted). It is not routed through our servers and is not used for advertising or profiling.
1.4 Update checks and review prompts (where applicable). The app may query Apple App Store public APIs for available updates or use the system review-prompt capability. Those requests are handled by Apple; we do not collect payment credentials or advertising identifiers as a result.
1.5 Sharing and support contact (optional). You may export an abacus image and send it through the system share sheet, or contact support by email or Telegram. Content is handled only when you initiate the action. When you actively copy the abacus reading or the support email, we write only the content you choose to the system clipboard.
1.6 What we do not do. We do not require you to create an in-app account operated by us. We currently do not integrate third-party advertising or user-behavior analytics SDKs such as Firebase, Umeng, Pangle, or AdMob, and we do not offer in-app purchases or subscriptions. We do not read your photo library, contacts, SMS, call logs, or phone number in the background, and we do not request camera, microphone, location, Bluetooth, or other sensitive permissions unrelated to core features (subject to your actual build).
1.7 Personal information inventory. To meet applicable privacy laws and app-store compliance requirements, we disclose below the categories of personal information that eAbacus may involve. The purpose, method, and scope described for each category apply only to the versions or scenarios noted. Categories marked as "not collected" mean that our app does not actively collect, read, or upload that type of information for the stated purpose.
This section describes third-party services that the Service may involve. Actual integrations may differ by platform.
The Service may check for updates through Apple App Store public APIs and may request a review through the system review-prompt capability. Related data processing is governed by Apple's policies.
Apple privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
The Service mainly uses operating-system capabilities for local storage, networking, local network/Bonjour, audio playback, haptics, system sharing, and UI rendering. Except for local-network podium mirroring, update checks, or opening external support links, we do not upload your practice or history data to our own cloud servers.
If you choose to contact us through Telegram or similar third-party channels, that communication is governed by the third party's terms and privacy policy. You may also contact us by email only.
The current version of eAbacus does not offer in-app purchases, subscriptions, or ad-based unlocks. If a future version introduces paid features or advertising, we will update this Privacy Policy and the User Agreement as required by law and obtain your consent where necessary.
eAbacus is primarily a local practice tool and requests few permissions. We ask for your consent through the system permission dialog before using sensitive capabilities. Permissions you deny will limit only the related features. Permissions are described by platform below.
Used to advertise a Bonjour service on the same local network and mirror the abacus display to a Mac podium.
Used to check for App Store updates and to open external support links such as email or Telegram.
Used when you actively copy the abacus reading, the support email, or similar content to the system clipboard.
Used when you actively share an abacus image through the system share sheet.
Used to discover an iPhone or iPad on the same local network and receive podium mirror display content. The macOS build is primarily a podium display and does not provide the bead-practice main interface.
Used to check for App Store updates and to open external support links such as email or Telegram.
Used when you actively copy the support email or similar content to the system clipboard.
You can manage permissions for this app at any time in your device Settings or app permission settings.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information, and to data portability where applicable.
You can remove locally stored practice records and settings by uninstalling the app, clearing app data, or deleting the app in system settings. For data processed by Apple or other third parties, you may also exercise choices through the relevant provider's settings and policies.
To exercise rights relating to data we control, contact us using the details in Section 7. We will respond within a reasonable time as required by applicable law.
6.1 Board state, history records, teaching progress, and app settings you generate through the app are handled and stored primarily on your device. Local-network podium mirroring transmits display snapshots only between your devices while connected. We do not operate a cloud sync service.
6.2 Update-check requests are processed by Apple according to Apple's policies and infrastructure, which may involve servers outside your country of residence.
6.3 We retain information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law. After you uninstall the app or clear data, corresponding local information is deleted.
You may contact us through the following methods to exercise your relevant rights. We will respond as soon as possible.

If you are not satisfied with our response, especially where applicable law grants you additional remedies, you may lodge a complaint with a data protection authority in your country or region. You may also seek resolution through a court of competent jurisdiction where permitted by law.
